Night Prayer:
Night Prayer is the cornerstone of the Youth of John Paul II. Since the day we started, not a single day has been missed. Having consistent interaction creates a close community and encouraging group prayer is so important to us as teens
The Youth of JP2, and other youth from close by, went for a hike and our parish priest celebrated mass at the top. It was our largest event yet, and it was an incredible experience.
A church in our parish was closing, and they needed alot of help cleaning it out. They called us and the next day we showed up and cleared out everything we needed to.
this was our most impactful service project so far. We went to D'Youville Nursing Home in Lewiston, two visits with and pray with the residence there. After separating into groups of three, each group would knock on a door and ask if the residents inside would like to pray an "Our Father" with them, then would stay and talk with the residents for however long they wished. All of the elderly were so happy to see us, and would even cry, they were so happy to have visitors.
Just to have a fun time, the youth of John Paul II went bowling. Some people ordered food and shared it.
During lent, the Youth of John Paul II prayed 551 rosaries for the intention of all those we love who are far from the church. The rosaries where prayed individually and logged.
The Youth of John Paul II traveled up to Augusta, Maine to participate in a event to protest abortion. The event was hosted in the maine lobby. After, a senator gave us a complete tour of the Maine State House.
for the entirety of Lent, every week the youth of John Paul II would go early to set up a soup dinner. Then stay and have fun after stations of the cross and Mass.
3 Nuns where going to make the journey all the way from the midwest to Maine to give a discernment talk and Q&A for girls. There was no way for them to fund this, so the Youth of John Paul II rasied hundreds of dollars which completely covered their expences.
We did all the serving of the food at the parish picnic. And also assisted in setting it all up. However, after we still had time to have fun with the games that were set up.
The original chapter of the Youth of John Paul II is based in Lewiston, where the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. The parish had invited a large number of pilgrams to visit the basilica, and our members researched and led tours throughout the building.
This was our first service project, The parish priest at our parish was having his thirtieth ordination anniversary. We put on a party for him so the whole parish could celebrate.
